Another day, another wedding present.
This was done for my good friends Mr. and Mrs. Spade. Mr. Spade is loud, outgoing, and ridiculous. I wanted to paint him something also loud and outgoing and ridiculous.
I used a 3 panel, triptych-based blocking for the base colors. Then, I covered the whole canvas with a layer of gesso and water. I let it dry partway, before pouring a bunch of paint on top, using my trustworthy olive oil dispenser (similar to Les Mis). The poured paint partly dissolved the un-dry gesso and created some pooling and layering that has some depth to it.
